A McLean, mean giving machine - Jim McLean competes in PGA National Golf Marathon - Brief Article

Golf Digest, Feb, 2000

Neither rain nor fatigue nor even a poky golf cart could stop Jim McLean from his appointed rounds-more than 11 of them in all-on Oct. 4. Playing in his first PGA National Golf Marathon, McLean completed 203 holes at Doral Resort & Spa, starting at 5:45 a.m. and finishing 12 hours later. For his efforts in support of junior golf, the Golf Digest Teaching Professional raised almost $12,000 (including a $10-a-hole pledge from star student Brad Faxon).

McLean carded a low round of 66, birdied four straight holes along the way, and finished with a tireless 69. His secret? "I didn't take one practice swing all day." (For more swing advice from McLean, turn to page 137.)
