Links for Life: The coalition grows - Brief Article

Golf Digest, Feb, 2000

The "links" in our Links for Life coalition grow longer and stronger by the day. Joining the public-safety campaign is the United States Golf Association, the game's governing body. According to

Executive Director David B. Fay, 55 USGA employees have already received CPR training, and 12 have trained to use an AED, the portable defibrillator that is the only way to restart a heart. Also pledging support is the National Association of Golf Tournament Directors, whose members conduct thousands of golf events each year. These two organizations join existing sponsors such as the National Safety Council, the National Golf Course Owners Association, the Club Managers Association and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.

As part of American Heart Month, the American Heart Association is launching a nationwide educational campaign about cardiovascular disease. Programs and activities are scheduled throughout the month, starting on February 1, the American Heartsaver Day. For details, phone your local American Heart Association office or visit www.americanheart.org.
