What's in my bag? - summary of golf clubs carried - Brief Article

Golf Digest, August, 2000 by Sergio Garcia

I changed clubs a couple of months after turning pro last year. What I like best about my clubs now is the way they look when I set them down at address. I like that clean look, but I also like the way I can work the ball with them. I have a lot of confidence in my clubs, but I can be rough on them, like the time I hit the 6-iron from behind the tree at the PGA Championship last year. I can't believe it didn't break.

Irons

I use Titleist DCI 990 irons (3-PW) with the same 7.2 Rifle shafts I use in my woods. I also carry a 20-degree Cobra 2 Baffler that I can use as a driving iron on tight holes. It also goes through the rough a bit easier than my old 2-iron, and I hit it higher.

Woods

I use a 44-inch, 8.5-degree Titleist 975D Titanium driver with a steel 7.2 Royal Precision Rifle shaft. My 3-wood is a 43-inch 13-degree Cobra Gravity Back with the same shaft as my driver. Both swingweight at D-4.

Putter

I used to putt with the Scotty Cameron Del Mar Two you see here, but I switched to a Titleist Santa Fe with a teryllium insert. It has a soft feel and I like the way it looks.

Wedges

In addition to my pitching wedge, I use two Titleist Vokey wedges, a 51-degree sand wedge and a 57-degree lob wedge. My full-swing yardages: 103 yards with the lob wedge; 124 with the sand wedge and 136 with the pitching wedge.

Ball: Titleist Professional 90.
