Matrix: The Magazine for Leaders in Education, Sept, 2000
The Dickinson School of Low of The Pennsylvania State University in Carlisle is co-recipient of the 2000 Louis J. Goffman Award given by the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation for organizational pro bono service. The Law School shares the award with the Cumberland County Bar Association and Legal Services, Inc. of Carlisle. The three organizations have a joint undertaking that places Dickinson law students with private attorneys to assist with pro bono legal work for low-income clients whose cases cannot be handled by Legal Services, Inc. The Goffman Award honors an individual or organization whose work has enhanced the delivery of legal services to Pennsylvania's poor or disadvantaged.
The University of Findlay in Ohio and Aardvark Media Productions have been named bronze winners in the 2000 Summit Creative Awards for Aardvark's work on the UF National Center for Excellence in Environmental Management Web site. The Web site is used to promote NCEEM's programs as well as to inform potential and current students. The newly designed site provides potential master's degree students the opportunity to take a demonstration course online, The master of environmental management degree and the bachelor's degree completion program in environmental management will be offered exclusively online beginning this fall.
Western Kentucky University's School of Journalism and Broadcasting has won the overall intercollegiate title in the 40th annual William Randolph Hearst Foundation's Journalism Awards Program. The school is in Bowling Green, Ky. The University of Florida, Gainesville, was second and the University of Missouri, Columbia, was third.
