The U.S Department of Education estimates that schools spend about $80 billion annually on school supplies. AcquireX, a Web-based education supply marketplace, is striving to help education institutions combat increasing cost and time associated with procurement by streamlining the purchasing process.

"Educational institutions are moving toward electronically procuring their daily provisions," says Robert Laclede, vice president/general manager Ingram Micro U.S., a wholesale provider of technology products and supply chain management services that has joined AcquireX.

"AcquireX provides a marketplace for our education solution providers and vendors to tap this trend."

Other new additions to the AcquireX online marketplace include Baker and Taylor, a full-line distributor of books, videos, and music; S.P. Richards Company, a wholesale distributor of business and office supplies; and Lagasse Bros, a wholesale distributor of business and office supplies.

AcquireX customers may purchase goods and services directly from AcquireX as a "super supplier/aggregator," use the AcquireX sealed bids and quotes modules when legally required or purchase goods and services using the AcquireX facilitation module. The module is primarily tailored to accommodate an institution's local vendors and its established supplier contracts.
