Meanwhile, leave it to the British royalty to upset some of Australia's best known Aboriginal artists

Art Business News,  Oct, 2003

Meanwhile, leave it to the British royalty to upset some of Australia's best known Aboriginal artists. Prince Harry has been accused of stealing Aboriginal motifs in his art and paintings that were unveiled earlier this year as part of his 18th birthday celebration. The young prince's appropriation of lizard motifs--a traditional Aboriginal symbol--in his work insulted the Aboriginal community.

The fact that his paintings were recently valued at about $24,000 each has further enraged them. No word yet if Harry will postpone his year-long stay in Australia, which is planned for later this year.
