CHICAGO--The modern and contemporary art fair at Chicago's Navy Pier, May 6-9, 2005, has a new name, "Chicago Contemporary & Classic." CC&C will offer the world's most respected galleries a comprehensive selection of modern and contemporary art, along with antiques and decorative objects. The mission of the show is to provide the public with a historical appreciation of collecting within the context of contemporary culture.
"We're confident that Chicago Contemporary & Classic will be an exciting experience and will appeal to anyone interested in learning about a wider range of categories than are typically offered at art fairs, says Ilana Vardy, show director. "Uniting Art Deco furniture with cutting-edge photography, is the way people decorate their homes."
The show anticipates approximately 200 exhibitors presenting an array of furniture and decorative arts in textiles, antiques and modern objects. Leading the Decorative Arts initiative will be Leslie Hindman, an internationally recognized authority on art and antiques. She will ensure that these works are appraised for authenticity by a separate committee.
Vardy adds, "Her [Hindman] expertise and international contacts will help broaden the appeal of this new concept to a larger and more targeted audience."
