"Giovanni Bellini and the Art of Devotion," features three paintings from the Indianapolis Museum of Art's collection, focusing on the replication of devotional images such as "Madonna and Child," in the Venice, Italy, workshop of Renaissance painter Giovanni Bellini. The exhibit will introduce audiences to the painter's workshop; from the scientific methods used to study artistic practices; to the modern conservation processes and treatments. Additionally, it will present a detailed analysis of the working methods employed by Bellini and his shop, and it will detail the practice of making copies within the broader context of the demand for particular images.
