Thanks for the enforcement

Art Business News,  Nov, 2005  by Rob Preiditsch

I want to thank Eric Smith, vice president of the Art & Framing Group, and his show management staff, for the actions they took regarding the discovery of alleged infringing pieces of Arvid art in various DECOR Expo Atlanta booths. Though we are never happy to adversely affect other companies or disrupt an event, protecting Thomas Arvid's intellectual property is one of our highest priorities.

Thank you for enforcing the policies regarding copyright infringement that Pfingsten Publishing had explicitly outlined in its exhibitor materials. By standing behind those policies, you send several important messages. The first message you send is to fine artists and high-end publishers--that Pfingsten Publishing (owner of DECOR Expo Atlanta and Artexpo Atlanta, and publisher of DECOR and Art Business News) supports their preservation of creative material and the resources upon which their livelihoods are built. The second message is to the companies most likely to deal in potentially infringing work--that the industry will not support illegal or unethical activities.

Especially in light of an industry focus on copyright infringement (considering the Department of Justice presentation at the show and the continuing efforts of individual artists and the Art Copyright Coalition), we think that publicizing the show management's actions at the show carries a timely and relevant message to the readers of Art Business News and DECOR.

We look forward to Pfingsten's continuing support, and all artists' pursuit of justice in terms of their intellectual property.
