ROSWELL, Ga. -- Each year, the Georgia Cancer Foundation selects an artist to contribute a unique piece of artwork that will become the theme for its "Magic of Life" celebration. This year, the foundation chose artist Ford Smith and his painting "Heart of Nature."
"I am honored to have been chosen for this event" said Smith. "Art serves an important function in our society, but there can't be a higher purpose it serves ... than soothing someone's suffering or buoying their spirits."
The first print in a limited edition of 100 is being donated to the foundation for a silent auction. The framed 36-by-48-inch giclee on canvas is hand-embellished by the artist. Additionally, "Heart of Nature" will be reproduced on customized T-shirts and gift cards with proceeds benefiting the foundation. Smith will be at the auction to sign the art and meet attendees.
The "Magic of Life" event, one of the largest in the South, honors cancer patients who are in recovery, as well as those who are still in active treatment.
Ford Smith's original paintings and limited-edition giclees are available in galleries nationwide. For more information, visit www.fordsmithfineart.com or call (770) 645-0226.
