P. Buckley Moss, with a bounteous spirit of invention, returns time and again to immensely popular themes such as the Amish and Mennonites, geese, trees and winter reflections. Her art speaks of love of nature, family and friends and the value of hard work and good faith.

Patricia Buckley was born in New York on May 20, 1933. Once in grade school, she struggled against dyslexia and was perceived as a poor student, seemingly lazy and stupid with regards to academics. Finally one astute teacher became aware of the young girl's artistic talents. She was soon enrolled in the Washington Irving High School for the Fine Arts where her artistic gifts were encouraged and soon flourished. After high school, Pat received a scholarship to New York's Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art where she specialized in fine arts and graphic design. With a collector base of more than 100,000, today Pat's work is universally recognized in galleries all across the country.

In 1989, the P. Buckley Moss Museum opened in Waynesboro, Va. Its stated purpose is to permanently record and illuminate the Moss phenomenon through educational exhibitions, lectures, permanent collections and archival files.

In 1986, The P. Buckley Moss Society was established. This organization helps spread Pat's message about overcoming dyslexia. Throughout her successful years, Pat has never forgotten the young girl who felt dumb in school, and she understands that many other children feel misunderstood or overlooked. Pat feels that many children who are labeled "learning disabled" can learn; they are "learning different," not disabled. Thus, in 1995 the P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children's Education was created. Each year the foundation sponsors a national conference to help teachers bring life, action and achievement to students in the classroom by making arts an integral part of teaching. Through the foundation's efforts, Pat hopes to increase public awareness about the importance of arts in education.
