Art Business News, Jan, 2003
SAN FRANCISCO -- DigitalCustom Group Inc. is offering new prepaid photo restoration and repair mailers, which are designed to allow retailers to sell photo restoration and repair services in a package rather than as a store service.
DigitalCustom's mailers are similar to prepaid film processing mailers. They are fully paid-for, single-image, secure, insured, reinforced and traceable mailers, which are pre-labeled to DigitalCustom's Cincinnati service facility. Customers will purchase the mailers from frame shops and use them to ship damaged photos or certificates via the shipping company's drop box or home pickup. Within three to five weeks, the customer will receive the photo restoration or repair work on a CD, which includes the original and restored image and a print up to 8 by 10 inches. Additional prints may be ordered, and the order can be tracked online.
Retailers can arrange for DigitalCustom to place a coupon for framing or other products in the customer's return package. Retailers who prefer to be the customer contact point may simply use, rather than sell, mailers al: the wholesale price.
DigitalCustom's President Jeff Makoff said, "These mailers are a simple way for retailers throughout the United States to benefit from the demand for high-quality custom photo editing services. Over time, DigitalCustom expects to graduate many `mail-in' retailers to online service, which allows even higher profits."
DigitalCustom will be exhibiting at WCAF in Las Vegas. For details, visit www.digitalcustom.com.
