Muralist paints her passion

Art Business News, Jan, 2005

LA JOLLA, CA -- California artist and horse enthusiast Stephanie Paige was the chosen muralist for the Prime 10 Restaurant at The Del Mar Polo Fields, inspired by an earlier work called "Match Victor," in which both pieces capture the "riotous energy of a polo match, deep in play." The idea for the mural came from owner Sami Ladeki and was designed by The Parisi Design Group.

To the artist, horses posses a duality of "savage nobility." Paige has a passion for horses and it is evident in her body of work. She describes the animals as "graceful, intelligent, majestic and yet wild, unpredictable and somehow elusive.

"They walk between two worlds--this earthly realm and the place of spirits--enjoying a freedom that we, as mere humans, half remember and still long for," Paige says.

Paige uses sweeping brush strokes and a "wet-on-wet" technique to achieve a blurring of color and form to engage one with its intensity while also providing an intimate perspective. To view her latest collection, the "Wile Spirit Collection," visit www.paigestudio.com.
