Topic: RSS FeedFestival selects artist Linda Pirri's image for official poster
Art Business News, March, 2004
INDIAN WELLS, Calif. -- "Wine Cellar," created by Laguna Beach, Calif.-based artist Linda Pirri, has been selected as the poster image for the 2004 Desert Festival of Wine, Food and the Arts to be held here in April.
Pirri's design was chosen for its incorporation of the essential ingredients of the show--wine, food and art--as well as for the contemporary design and vibrant coloration of her composition. Pirri's art features the ancient art form of "serfi," or painting on silk with brilliant dyes and inks. She was awarded a first-place ribbon at last year's Indian Wells Art Festival for her two-dimensional/mixed media work.
The epicurean and fine-art festival runs April 2 through 4. The art element includes 175 juried artists, who will demonstrate and present painting, drawing, pottery, weaving, sculpture, jewelry, glass, photography and hand-crafted wares in an outdoor marketplace.
The wine and food portion is produced by the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in association with Anthony Dias Blue, wine and spirits editor of Bon Appetit magazine. The three-day feast features internationally acclaimed chefs, top wineries, cooking demonstrations, wine seminars and tastings.
A share of art and ticket sales will benefit Desert Academy of the Arts Foundation's after-school arts programs. Signed posters can be ordered and art show information can be obtained by calling (760) 346-0042 or visiting www.iwaf.net.
