* A 10-foot-wide poster titled "La Rue" by Swiss/French Art Nouveau painter and printmaker Theophile Alexandre Steinlen was purchased by a Boston collector for a record $59,700 during Swann Auction Galleries' Dec. 18 sale of 100 rare and imported Art Nouveau posters. Other works by Steinlen also went for high prices, including his "Exposition a la Bodiniere," a poster featuring two of the artist's signature cats, which went for $8,050.
The auction also featured works by Alphonse Mucha, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Adolfo Hohenstein.
