Topic: RSS FeedAPA Elects Steering Committee for 2001
Art Business News, April, 2001
RICHMOND, Va.--Members of the Art Publishers Association have elected nine publishers to serve on the APA steering committee.
Joining the steering committee for the first time are: Bill Dreyer, the Chase Group; George Leeson, Image Conscious; Margot Rowe, Newmark Publishing; and Scott Usher, Greenwich Workshop.
They will serve with Jack Appelman, Applejack Art Partners; John Chester, Wild Apple Graphics; Ray Granger, Joan Cawley Gallery Ltd; Sara Richards, the Art Group; and Robert Sher, Bentley Publishing Group.
"For the last year, the steering committee has been composed of volunteers," said Chester, APA chair. "This election has given APA members the chance to select the individuals whom they would like to lead the organization for the coming year."
Steering committee members will serve from March 2001 to March 2002. They will deal with organizational and membership issues as well as the APA's program priorities of establishing industry standards and growing the market for art.
Chester pointed out that although the APA is officially only one year old, it has already sponsored educational programs, commissioned a survey of consumer art buying behavior and published a booklet on fine art print disclosure laws. "We could not have accomplished so much in such a short time without the active involvement of the steering committee and members of our program committees," he said. "I know the new steering committee will be working hard to keep the APA momentum going. And of course, we always welcome the contributions of members who wish to serve on our program committees."
The APA brings together art publishers to strengthen the art publishing industry. Formed one year ago, the APA currently has 60 members. The Professional Picture Framers Association provides APA's administrative services. For membership information, contact PPFA at 800-5566228 or e-mail ppfa@ppfa.com.
