Art Business News, April, 2001
NEW YORK--Steve Diamant, president of Arcadia Fine Arts, has announced the opening of a new gallery in SoHo at 51 Greene Street between Broadway and Grand Streets.
According to Diamant, Arcadia Gallery, which opened Feb. 24, is a strictly representational gallery, and all of the artists represented at the gallery are classically inspired, "but their influences are diverse," he said. "Their messages can range from contemporary cutting-edge figuratism to Renaissance to the style of the Dutch masters to people whose work is reminiscent of the WPA era."
Among the artists whose work is represented are Charles Dwyer, Malcom Liepke, Ken Hamilton, John Palencar, David Shevlino, Priscilla Treacy, Robert La Duke, Robert Liberace, Royo, Lynne Campbell, Joe Anna Arnett, Jay Mercado, Morgan Carver and more.
Diamant said the gallery is accessible in terms of price with a wide range of work available through the gallery at prices ranging from 5700 to $70,000.
The new gallery fills 3,700 square feet of space on two levels. The top level features two rooms of high-ceilinged, spacious gallery space and includes a comfortable viewing area and office space. The lower level of the gallery features a small gallery space and houses the company's shipping, receiving and storage area.
Diamant is the gallery director. Alicia Rodriguez, formerly of Irvington, N.Y.-based SoHo Editions, is Arcadia's assistant director, and Terry Dillon is the gallery's administrative director.
