DECOR Expo Cancels Toronto, Las Vegas Shows, Announces L.A. Show & Summit

Art Business News, April, 2001

CLEVELAND--Eric Smith, vice president of expositions for DECOR Expo, has announced the cancellation of two events--DECOR expo Toronto and art21/DECOR expo Las Vegas. The company has also added two new events to its show schedule.

Added to the schedule is DECOR Expo--Los Angeles, scheduled for June 7 to 9 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The show will be preceded by an executive summit for the art and framing industry, the International Art & Framing Summit, scheduled for June 5 to 7 in Laguna Beach, Calif.

"After listening to our exhibitors and buyers, we decided that what the market needed was a strong, vibrant West Coast show," explained Smith. "We're building DECOR Expo--Los Angeles to be that show. We placed the show in its June time slot to give exhibitors a chance to preview their fall lines to West Coast buyers before the Atlanta show in September."

"Considering the cancellation of Toronto, there would be a long time frame between New York and Atlanta. Los Angeles will be a great location to support the art and flaming industry. We need a West Coast Show," said Maria Oliveira, senior marketing communication specialist with the Fletcher-Terry Company.

"Los Angeles is an important market. A show in the heart of the market has the making of a very strong event," said Peter Shulman, vice president of the NEI Group.
