StateArt.Net Showcases Unique Photos From Across the Nation on new Web site

Art Business News, April, 2001

BRISBANE, Calif.--Hitachi America Ltd. recently launched www.stateart.net, a new Web site associated with its award-winning Hitachi Viewseum fine art Web portal and eShop. Stateart.net features unique characterizations of state names as viewed through the lenses of photographers from around the United States.

Eugene Murphy, project manager and curator of the Hitachi Viewseum, said the idea came from Texas photographer and author Rick Vanderpool, who logged more than 20,000 miles photographing every county in Texas.

Among the other content included at Stateart.net will be limited-edition photographic images and original hand-colored black-and-white photography.

"The scope and attraction of this project is truly exciting," said Murphy. "Visitors to Stateart.net will take part in a nationwide artistic adventure that will involve every county in America. As we add new states at the rate of one every 4 to 5 weeks, participating photographers will be able to share their experiences on the site with each other and visitors. We anticipate having each state represented on the site by the end of 2002."
