Art Business News, April, 2004
RICHMOND, British Columbia -- Canadian Art Prints (CAP) is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
The history of the company begins in 1964 when Bill Ellis started a company called Canadian Native Prints, a company originally designed for publishing native imagery. In 1972, Hal Krieger stepped in as general manager and then bought the company in 1976. Six years later, CAP shifted its focus from fine-art prints to open-edition prints in order to reach a wider market in North America and throughout the world. In 1997, CAP partnered with Devon Publishing and its subsidiary companies, Winn Devon, Portal and Devon UK. As a group, Devon Publishing focuses on all aspects of the art market, distributing open-edition prints, limited-edition prints, originals and stationary products to retailers all over the world.
In celebration of this milestone year, the art publisher is holding special sales promotions throughout the year. For more information, call 800-663-1166.
