Master figurative artist adds landscapes

Art Business News, April, 2005

LOS ANGELES -- The French-born, classically trained, master figurative artist Francois Fressinier, introduces his masterpiece landscape paintings. He says he still is painting neo-classical, timeless beauties but wants to portray his landscape skills, as well.

"As a child, I grew up around a lot of my father's landscape paintings, which really fascinated me," says Fressinier, whose father was a skilled landscape painter, as well as a renowned portrait photographer. "Recently, I found myself going back, revisiting them and being deeply influenced by them." Most of the scenes come from his own imagination and memories of the French countryside. Fressinier adds, "I use sketches and photos that I have taken from actual places. But I do this only to trigger my imagination."

Fressinier's landscapes are unique in that he adds a neo-classical and timeless look to the paintings. He says, "I use the same technique that I have been using for my figurative works, which is similar to what the old masters were doing. It's a technique called Verdacio, which is a layering of multiple thin glazes."

Collectors Editions is the fine art publisher of Fressinier. For more information, call 800-736-0001; visit www.collectorseditions.com.
