Photography legend lives on

Art Business News, April, 2005

COQUITLAM, British Columbia -- Art In Motion presents the new collection of photographer Lillian Bassman, considered one of the greatest icons in fashion photography, in its Spring 2005 Collection. Bassman's negatives were found 20 years after the closing of her studio, by her downstairs neighbor. The images had been discarded after Bassman and her husband closed their photography studio. Bassman brought a new sophistication to fashion photography during her years at Harper's Bazaar, as both an art director and photographer from the 1940s through the 1960s. Her career consisted of photographing the foremost models of her day and also shooting advertising campaigns for clients such as Chanel and Balenciaga.

Bassman's photographs have been featured in gallery and museum exhibits in New York, Milan, Paris and London. She continues to photograph today.
