SAN DIEGO -- Kevin Robb, a renowned Colorado metal sculptor, announces the installation of a major sculpture in San Diego between two newly constructed buildings. Commissioned by Cisterra Partners, the 30-foot-tall stainless-steel sculpture titled "Dancing In the Sun" is a four-element structure that evokes lightness, fluidity, motion and drama. The design allows the sun's rays to "dance" off of the sculptural grind marks.
An internationally collected sculptor, Robb creates free-flowing sculptural expressions in bronze and stainless steel, which are distinguished by their smooth, graceful edges and seamless metal intersections to reveal the high-caliber welding involved. Since suffering a massive stroke in 2004, Robb has been physically challenged in the creation of his sculptures. However, Robb is still able to continue to create his designs even with limited physical abilities, including the inability to speak, by directing his studio staff through motions, sketches and nonverbal communications.
Robb's recent projects include: The Borgata Casino and Spa, Atlantic City, N.J.; Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, Ky.; Harrison Point Shopping Center, Cary, N.C.; JW Marriott Resort, Palm Desert, Calif.; Premier Banks, Roseville, Minn.; Sherman Associates, Minneapolis.
