Martin Lawrence Opens New Orleans Gallery

Art Business News, May, 2001

GREENWICH, Conn.--Martin Lawrence Galleries, a division of Chalk & Vermilion Fine Arts, has opened a new fine art gallery in New Orleans. This brings the number of Martin Lawrence galleries to nine. The gallery in New Orleans is the third gallery to pen since Chalk & Vermilion acquired the chain of retail galleries in August 1997.

The new location in the French Quarter at 709 Royal Street is in the center of the city's convention and tourist district and opened to the public in April. Michael Lisi, vice president of Martin Lawrence Galleries, said, "New Orleans has long been a premium location for fine art galleries, and we are delighted to be in this historic city and part of its vibrant art community."

The New Orleans gallery will feature the published works of Chalk & Vermilion artists, which include original works, serigraph prints on paper and canvas, lithographs and sculpture by contemporary artists Erte, Kerry Hallam, Liudmila Kondakova, Bruce Ricker, Fanny Brennan and Thomas McKnight. As with all of the Martin Lawrence Galleries, it will also offer important pieces by 20th-century masters, including Picasso, Chagall, Miro, Warhol, Haring, Lichtenstein and others.
