Michael Kalish Creates Installation for Braves

ATLANTA--Artist Michael Kalish recently created "Legends and License Plates," a new installation using his signature license plate medium, for the Atlanta Braves. The work, the first to permanently grace the walls of a professional baseball field, includes five 10-foot sculptures using plates from states that have once hosted Braves Teams: Massachusetts (Boston Braves), Wisconsin (Milwaukee Braves) and Georgia (Atlanta Braves). In all, more than 500 license plates were used for the installation.

Trevor Allan Fine Introduces New Artists

TORONTO--Trevor Allan Fine Art Publishers, a publishing company representing artists from around the world, has introduced emerging artists Victor Tkachenko and Trevor Sandquist. The company has released two s/n prints from Tkachenko available in an edition of 475. The new prints include "Quartet" and "Royal Suite." The company has also released a new s/n print from Sandquist in an edition of 850 entitled "Mediterranean." In other news, the Trevor Allan Art Gallery here recently opened and is located on the Toronto waterfront.

Issa Shojaei To Self-Publish Work

TORONTO--Artist Issa Shojaei's original paintings and silk screens will be represented and distributed by Zarya Fine Arts. The company is named after the successful serigraph entitled "Zarya," and the work is available to galleries and publishers worldwide.

Selected International Fine Arts Releases Books

NEW YORK--Selected International Fine Arts, an international art broker, has released new books from four of its artists. The subjects of the books are artists Torres Prat, Alejandro Quincoces, Gabriel Picart and sculptor Gonzalez Beltran.

Applejack Signs New Artists, Introduces Black & White Program

MANCHESTER, Vt.--Applejack Art Partners has signed artists Debra Lake and Robert McFarland and has introduced a new black-and-white program.

Lake's work will be released through Rose Selavy of Vermont and will be avail able for licensing. McFarland's work will be released as limited editions and will be available for licensing, as well.

The new black-and-white collections features some of the company's top images and photographers. The Hope Street Editions catalog features black-and-white images, including cityscapes by Chris Bliss, antique nautical prints by Edwin Levick and sepia-toned work by Sarah Wagner-Raines.

Roland Giclee Hangs in Butler

IRVINE, Calif.--The Butler Museum of American Art in Ohio has hung a Roland Giclee of Winslow Homer's famous "Snap The Whip" painting.

Digital Color Imaging, a print facility in Ohio, reproduced the giclee on a Roland Hi-Fi JET piezo printer. The reproduction will hang in the museum until the $50 million original returns at the end of the year from an exhibit in Kansas City.

"We are proud to donate this giclee," said Dave Welner, president of Digital Color. "Winslow Homer's `Snap The Whip' is important to this community. I am excited that the many museum visitors will continue to enjoy the excitement of yesterday's school children playing snap the whip until the original returns."

Crane Expands Museo Paper Line

DALTON, Mass.--Crane & Co. Inc. has expanded its range of Fine Art Digital Printmaking paper products. Museo for desktop digital printmaking weighs in at 250 gsm and is available in four sizes. Each size is packed 25 sheets per box. Museo for large-for, mat fine art digital printmaking weighs in at 350 gsm and is available in 24- by 36- and 35- by 47-inch sizes.

Crane & Co., long-time manufacturer of 100-percent cotton papers, introduced Museo in August 2000. Museo is a bright white paper which company officials say is made to the highest archival standards and faithfully reproduces a wide gamut of colors and velvety blacks and has a surface texture ideal for digital photography.

Mill Pond Press Signs Two New Artists

VENICE, Fla.--Artists Del Parson and Robert Seufert have joined Mill Pond Press Company's roster of artists. Parson's first Mill Pond release depicting Christ, entitled "Prayer at Gethsemane" is a 650 offset limited edition priced at $125. It will also be available as an open-edition print through book and gift stores that carry the Visions of Faith line of framed inspirational art. Mill Pond has published Seufert's painting of a lighthouse, entitled "Journey's End," as a limited edition of 250 giclee canvases at $495.

Wild Apple Names Export Sales Manager

WOODSTOCK, Vt.--Wild Apple Graphics, art publisher and licensing company, has appointed David L. Weaver as export sales manager. Weaver has joined the company's sales force to further Wild Apple's sales initiatives in overseas markets. "David has a lot of experience living and working overseas, giving him a great understanding of different cultures and markets. Combining this with his energy level and enthusiasm will propel our business in the international arena," said Sales Director Charlie Kimbell.

Before joining Wild Apple, Weaver worked for more than six years in business-to-business sales abroad.
