Art Business News, June, 2004

CLEVELAND--Internarional Artexpo has announced plans to debut a new show in Atlanta this summer. The show, which is also held annually in New York in February, is planned to take place at the Georgia World Congress Center from Sept. 10 to 12. It will run con-currently with the annual DECOR Expo trade-only event. Both shows are produced by Pfingsten Publishing, which recently acquired Artexpo.

Artexpo Atlanta's theme is "Art For All." It will also include [SOLO], a special section featuring the original works of emerging artists, which debuted at the New York show.

An opening-night gala event will be held Sept. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. to benefit a local charity. The show will be open to the trade only on Sept. 10 and to consumers and trade on Sept 11 and 12.

Companies exhibiting at Artexpo Atlanta include Atlantic Arts, Smart Publishing, Progressive Editions, Rosenbaum Fine Art, The Art Group, S2 Art Group, Slaymaker Fine Art, A & E Fine Art, Telegraphics, Lost Steeple Originals, Raul Mercier, Max Gold Fusion Art, MAC Fine Art, Nomi Faran, Washington Green Fine Art, Shawn Vinson Fine Art, Seven North Fine Art and Mystic Seaport, according to Hugh Tobin, the show's director.

"We're honored and excited to host Artexpo Atlanta in September," said Georgia World Congress Center General Manager John Smith. "We are confident that Artexpo will be a success this fall."

The city is actively supporting the debut of Artexpo Atlanta with street banners, marketing support and logistical assistance.
