RALEIGH, N.C.--Allwall.com, an online consumer marketplace for posters, art and framed prints, has acquired a majority of assets belonging to art.com, a leading e-commerce provider of imagery and related products and services, from Getty Images Inc. According to company officials, the assets, including the domain name, art.com's expansive affiliate program, strategic partnerships and certain intellectual property, now make allwall.com the dominant "e-tailer" in the $13 billion-a-year online art and poster industry.
"This acquisition solidifies us as the definitive online source for framed and unframed art prints and posters and allows us to build on the most recognizable brand name in the industry," said Joshua Chodniewicz, c.e.o, for allwall.com. "Art.com users will now be able to have an improved user experience via allwall.com's vast inventory, state-of-the-art custom framing technology and exceptional customer service."
Allwall.com and Getty Images plan to make available a new line of fine art prints to allwall.com's inventory of 80,000 different posters, photographs and prints that can be professionally framed with allwall.com's custom-framing capabilities. Allwall.com will honor all art.com customer returns and gift certificates. ABN
