Art Business News, July, 2001
MINNEAPOLIS--Robert Varner, founder of Doubletake Gallery and BuyArt.com, has announced the company will combine its operations with Art Holdings at its Minneapolis headquarters. "Because of my friendship and respect for Greg Hennes, and his success with Art Holdings, I didn't hesitate when he proposed this merger," said Varner.
Hennes, c.e.o, of Art Holdings, a nationwide art consulting, custom framing and installation services company founded in 1980, commented, "In our mind, merging with Doubletake Gallery, and BuyArt.com was a natural choice. Not only are the Web sites among the most sophisticated in the industry with more than 20,000 images online, but they also receive more than 250,000 hits per week from 40 countries."
The companies will operate under their present market-specific names.
