New York's Museum of Modern Art and P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, announce that nArchitects, a New York firm led by Eric Bunge and Mimi Hoang, has been select ed as the winner of the fifth annual MoMAP/P.S.1 Young Architects Program, a competition that invites emerging architects to propose a building project for the courtyard of P.S.1 in Long Island City, Queens.
The contestants were instructed to make the best use of P.S.1's outdoor courtyard, staying within the project's budget of $60,000. The winning "Canopy" project is constructed primarily of freshly cut green bamboo and features spaces for lounging and relaxation, including a wading pool and a sandy area for sunbathers.
