Equestrian painter voted Artist of the Year

Art Business News, July, 2005

BOSTON--Widely recognized by art collectors and equestrian enthusiasts for his horse paintings, William St. George was named Menlo Charity Horse Show Artist of the Year. Previous winners of this award include world-renowned sports artist Le Roy Neiman.

"I'm honored to win this prestigious award," says St. George. "I've had a fascination with drawing and painting horses since I was a child. Ironically, I recently discovered that St. George is actually the patron saint of horses."

St. George's paintings concentrate on everything from landscapes and cityscapes, to horses and swimmers. His works are known for their strong sense of design, bold use of color, and lively brushwork.

The Menlo Charity Horse Show in Atherton, CA, is a world-class event and features Olympic-style jumping. The show has been voted Horse Show of the Year five years in a row. In 2004, it raised $328,000 for the Peninsula Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
