Solo exhibit cross-markets with Orchids

Art Business News, July, 2005

BRANFORD, CT--Evolution Art Group presents the solo exhibition, "Orchids at the Shore," featuring artist Patricia Laspino at the East End Gallery in Margate, NJ, premiering July 28 through Aug. 21. Laspino's paintings transcend style or period, and draw deeply upon her training as a botanical illustrator, as well as her relationship with nature. She presents the orchids in compositional arrays with bold colors and the use of light.

"My mission is to create imagery and events in which the fusing of art and science will reveal previously unseen beauty in order to create a sense of wonder; instill a purpose of discovery; and inspire action to further the long term stewardship of the natural world," says Laspino.

East End Gallery, which represents approximately 40 artists in painting, metal sculpture, glass and ceramics, and Evolution Art Group have combined their efforts to create a unique gallery exhibition. Bridging art and science, the show brings together Waldor Orchids of Linwood, NJ, one of the eastern United States largest orchid growers, and the National Orchid Society. Waldor Orchids will cross-market its fine orchid plants with the art of Laspino. The National Orchid Society, along with 11 regional chapters, will attend the event to promote orchid species awareness, education and conservation. The event expects to receive newspaper and magazine coverage, as well as local television coverage to attract potential collectors.

Considered to be one of America's foremost orchid artists, Laspino's work hangs in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History.
