Decor Art & Framing School: Fine Art speakers to include ABN editorial director

ATLANTA -- Sixty seminars are being planned for the Art & Framing School to be held in conjunction with DECOR Expo Atlanta, Sept. 8-10. Included in this year's offerings are several that are focused on addressing issues facing fine art professionals.

New this year is "PR Made Simple," which will be led by ABN Editorial Director Susanne Casgar. The session will address the "Do's and Don'ts" involved with preparing and submitting press releases, art submissions and digital images for publication. This session is offered at no cost (though there is a $20 no-show fee).

Other fine art sessions being offered, include:

* Finding Your Unique Selling Proposition; Competing as an Army of One, Rob Spademan, Director of Sales and Marketing, the International Art and Framing Group, Cleveland

This workshop is a "hands on" session designed to help individual retailers discover and create a unique marketing platform to help their business prosper against the backdrop of large, national retailers who compete in your market. Participants will receive a refresher course in marketing and actually develop a unique selling proposition for their business during the workshop. Participants will also share their results with other class members.

* The Art of Selling Art, Zella Jackson, Art Consultant, $65

This session is a complete guide for galleries and artists wanting to significantly increase art sales. Learn the nine steps for successfully selling art; how to create profitable shows; and the best marketing campaigns to create loyal art collectors.

* Promoting a One-Man Show, Andy McAfee, Director, The Art Shop, Greensboro, NC, $65

This workshop on how to hold a successful single-artist show will cover everything from selecting the right artist and publisher to generating publicity for the event and for your gallery. The speaker will take attendees through the steps to ensure a memorable and profitable artist event.

* Creating Lifelong Collectors of Art, Zella Jackson, Art Consultant, $65

Learn how to increase sales by 80 percent by providing superior service; how to examine effective ways to obtain qualified referrals that translate into increased sales; and how to establish a collector development program and more.

* At Home With Prints, Penny Dell, Art Consultant, $65

This session will address new media printing techniques. Come and match the plate to the print and learn how etchings, drypoints, woodcuts, collagraphs, and monotypes are created, and the qualities that make each one special. Participants can print a small silkscreen print to take home.

* A Gallery's Guide to Selling Art, Zella Jackson, Art Consultant, $65

Learn the secrets to successful selling, marketing campaigns that really work and showroom strategies for creating profitable shows. This session will introduce attendees to the tools needed to significantly increase art sales and create lifelong collectors.

* The Fine Art of Wall Design, Suzanne Gallagher, Art Consultant, Free ($20 no-show fee)

Discover how to select art images that work in your gallery and how to apply the simple design principles of placement and wall design.
