Robert Wheeler, a native Californian, was raised in Hollywood. Married in 1966, he joined the Los Angeles Police Department. After retiring, Wheeler found work in the film industry. His rugged looks earned him a Screen Actors card. Spending many hours on filming locations, Wheeler wrote two fiction romantic novels, which resulted in coworkers giving him the name "The Curbside Writer."
