Legacy Gallery features works by Murray, Nethercott and Williams

Art Business News,  July, 2007

JACKSON, WY--Legacy Gallery recently hosted a one-man show that featured Richard Murray's figurative animal paintings and a two-man show displaying the works of landscape artist Phill Nethercott and landscape/ figurative artist Todd William.

Murray's life-size pieces are created in off on panel. Keeping the backgrounds simple, Murray makes the animals the focus of each painting and allows the animal to tell its individual story. A unique aspect of Murray's pieces is his incorporation of the frame into each piece. He paints the frame the same color as the background and brings the animal's shadow out of the painting and onto the frame. This method also makes the animals look as if they are stepping out of the painting.

Nethercott's impressionistic styles depict vast landscapes similar to those he grew up with in Jackson Hole, Wyo. Also in the impressionistic style, Williams creates a calm, serene feeling through his landscape and figurative paintings, some of which have been created for Hallmark cards and calendars.
