AFAF bestows art awards

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. -- The Academy of Fine Art Foundation (AFAF) recently held its second-annual gala, where it announced the recipients of several awards. Art Business News received the award for "Best Art Magazine," Masterpiece Publishing Inc. was named "Best Art Publisher" and Galleria di Sorrento in Las Vegas received the award for "Best Art Gallery." Spanish painter Royo was named "Best Painter" and MI, Snowden was awarded "Best Sculptor."

Actress Loni Anderson hosted the ceremony and also received the "Philanthropic Order of Merit" award. Best painter nominee Ginger Cook received the AFAF "Presidential Order of Merit" The gala was also attended by Barbara Eden and included silent and live auctions and a performance by the Oxford Strings from AUHSD group.

The gala benefited the Anaheim Union High School District, where 7,000 students currently participate in the instrumental, choral, dance, drama and visual arts programs. For more information, visit www.academyoffineart.org.
