Topic: RSS FeedDesigner Robert Idol to showcase at Artexpo ATLANTA
Art Business News, August, 2005
ATLANTA -- Robert Idol, the critically acclaimed designer, will use the lobby of Artexpo Atlanta to showcase his premier Robert Idol Design Collection, for Lane Home Furnishings, as announced by Eric Smith, vice president of Artexpo.
The renowned designer brings decades of experience to his efforts at Artexpo Atlanta. Prior to joining Lane Home Furnishings, Idol was a successful independent designer with his own company, Robert Idol Designs. His work focused on both residential and commercial projects, including offices, showrooms, and the residences of the Hollywood elite. Whenever the "perfect" piece could not be found, Idol would step in and design one himself. His works have been featured several times in Atlanta Home and lifestyle and Better Homes and Gardens, as well as Northern California Home, which named him "Most Up and Coming Designer" in 1987.
Idol joined Lane Home Furnishings in 1991 as design director. In his current position as vice president of corporate design, Idol has been instrumental in the planning and development of Lane's freestanding store concept. Under his guidance, 14 new Lane Home Furnishing Stores opened in 2004, with 20 more scheduled to open in 2005. Idol also has designed a lighting collection for Currey & Company, and styled a collection of artwork for Apogee, both of which will be sold under the Robert Idol Design Collection banner.
Artexpo Atlanta, an international art fair featuring artists, galleries and publishers around the world, showcases work designed for every taste, style and budget. The event will be held September 16-18, at the Georgia World Congress Center, and will provide collectors, from first-time to the more experienced, the opportunity to view and purchase original paintings, photography, sculpture, animation, limited edition prints, giclees and more, all under one roof.
As part of Artexpo Atlanta's commitment to excellence, it continues its partnership with the Atlanta Gallery Association (AGA), representing Atlanta's foremost fine art galleries, several of which will display their art in a special section of the show floor dedicated to the AGA.
