Art Business News, Sept, 2002 by Vanessa Silberman

Gone With The Wind fans from around the world came one step closer to Tara as the most comprehensive collection from the epic 1939 film was offered by Christie's New York. Assembled over a period of more than 40 years by Atlanta-based collector Herb Bridges, the top lot of the night was a wool sweater worn by actress Olivia de Havilland, who portrayed Melanie Hamilton Wilkes, a role that garnered her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Estimated between $4,000 and $6,000, the sweater sold for $16,730. Other highlights included the final shooting script which sold for $8,365 (est. $3,000 to $5,000) and a pre-production watercolor on board painting depicting Scarlett looking over a bleak landscape which appears to be Tara after the war, which sold for $5,975 (est. $4,000 to $6,000).
