Philadelphia show's silent auction to feature music-inspired works

Art Business News, Sept, 2004

PHILADELPHIA -- Attendees at this year's Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, Nov. 4-7, will have the chance to bid on artwork submitted by participating artists at the silent auction, "Music to My Ears." The 195 artists will be invited to create a piece inspired by the auction theme, which is a tribute to the international guest artists. The museum expects anywhere from 30 to 50 donations of one-of-a-kind artwork in every medium, including clay, metal, fiber, wood, leather and glass, as well as mixed media.

"The silent auction is one of my favorite components of the Craft Show. Every year I look forward to seeing how the artists will translate the theme," says Joan Momjian, chair of the 2004 Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show. "From past years' experience, I have a feeling 'Music to My Ears' will get some ears, musical notes and instruments, and I can only imagine what else."

The bidding begins on Nov. 3 at the preview party, and will run through the duration of the fair.
