The 11th Annual International Exposition of Sculpture Objects & Functional Art (SOFA). Nov. 5-7 on the Navy Pier in Chicago, brings, together a wide variety of works reflecting many cultures with unconventional styles and techniques. This year's event will feature 27 international galleries representing countries such as Japan, The Czech Republic. Israel Argentina Australia and the nations, of Scandinavia.
International galleries and dealers will combine one-of-a-kind, three-dimensional masterworks bridging the decorative and line-art markets. The Chicago Tribune describes the show as "One of the most anticipated cultural events in this city, a sense of discovery and surprise always permeates this show."
Attendees are encouraged to attend the plus lecture series and lout special exhibitions, all of which have been organized with key world arts organizations. The key artists scheduled as seminar speakers consist of glass artists Klaus Moje and William Carlson; metal artist Albert Paley; and ceramicist Don Reitz. In addition to the lecture series, a collection of essays combined with information and images from each gallery represented at SOFA Chicago will be showcased in a catalog that will include more than 200 color photographs of artwork.
An opening night gala will be held Thursday, Nov. 4, for the Arts Program of Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
