Art Business News, Sept, 2005
Giampietro Filippetti, an Italian designer and creator of glass mosaic panels, produces expressions of the passionate, emotional and physical stimulation of an individual's senses, each culminating in a work of art that radiates with a truly unique identity. Filippetti's work is very much inspired by the influences of day-to-day life, by capturing its raw beauty and the emotional elements.
The subject is truly poignant. The media is glass--luminous, profound, yet translucent, all at once. The inspiration is modern--colors, light, shapes and textures. The technique is unmistakably classic--deconstructing the overall design into thousands of precise pieces, each meticulously positioned.

Filippetti chose to study the masterful mosaics of Friuli, Ravenna, Rome and Venice. Residing in Milan for more than a decade, he began fusing his love and passion for this historic art form with the avant-garde aesthetics of Italy's design and fashion industries.
Arriving in Canada in 2003, Filippetti discovered the perfect media with which to bring his artistic visions to life--the remarkable cache of artistic glass available in America, which is very different from the more traditional Smalti glass of Italy.
In February of 2005, and after two years in the making, Filippetti had the opportunity to display his artistic glass panels for the first time in North America. Since its initial introduction, the Filippetti mosaics have been pursued and purchased by collectors and buyers throughout North America.
