Bikinis and surfboards - Postings - Blur Studios provides garphics package for Teen Choice VAwards - Brief Article

Post, Oct, 2002

VENICE -- For this year's Teen Choice VAwards, Blur Studios (www.blur.com) was called on to create a graphics package that would enhance the show's central theme: the beach. The package included the show's main title, category title, nominee introductions, winner banners, bumpers and promos.

Tapping into the surfer film genre, Blur incorporated typical beach icons -- surfboards, flip-flops, seagulls, palm trees, girls in bikinis and guys riding waves -- against a bright yellow-orange-blue palette. These colors, along with the chosen type font further references the 1970s, when surfer films were popular. Tying these graphic elements together is a simple ribbon of banded colors that unifies the various images. This ribbon transforms into a giant wave that carries an agile surfer.
