Active animation

Post, Oct, 2004

CHICAGO -- Radar Studios (www.radarstudios.com) has completed work on a spot for McDonald's that features a fun, cut-out style of animation. The studio provided production and post services on the :30 Active Ronald commercial, via agency Leo Burnett.

The spot combines live action elements, high resolution digital stills and CG animation. Environments such as a baseball field and a city street were shot by the Radar team using a Nikon camera. Ronald's bedroom was created using Alias Maya.

Live action was shot in HD against a bluescreen using a Panasonic HD camera.

Apple's Final Cut Pro was used for editing and Adobe After Effects was used for compositing and animation. The Radar team also used Discreet Flame for previz and keying. Active Ronald was delivered in SD.
