Post, Nov, 2002
Pinnacle Edition is the first video editor designed for the new realities of the digital environment, like dual-monitor graphics, multi-processor computers, and inexpensive DVD-R burners. The result is an intuitive program that speeds production and runs more securely.
By continually saving all asset libraries and edit decisions, Edition's InstantSave feature eliminates work lost due to power outages or system crashes. Edition is also the first sub-$1,000 (SRP $699) video editor that saves project components as separate sequences to be consolidated or reused in subsequent projects, thereby simplifying projects and streamlining production.

Background rendering also speeds production. After applying an effect, the editor can move on to the next edit decision, and Edition will automatically render the previous effect. When the editor is ready to preview or output the project, operation is instantaneous, since the project is already rendered. Support for multiple processors and Intel's Hyper-Threading (1) Technology makes background rendering transparent to those using Intel[R] Pentium[R] 4 and Intel[R] Xeon[[TM] processor-based computers.
Edition ships with Pinnacle Impression DVD Pro, a fully functional DVD authoring program, and also can output your project directly to DVD-R. Intel-powered machines work more efficiently here as well, since Pinnacle has optimized Edition's MPEG-2 codec for Intel platforms.
Pinnacle Edition is new for Pinnacle, but it based on an established product (FASTStudio.dv) acquired from a company called Fast Multimedia. Pinnacle added a few features, beefed-up compatibility and released it as Edition. As such, Edition won't suffer from the "first-generation blues" that hound many first releases,
Pinnacle, Intel, Canon *, HP * and Memorex * are sponsoring the DV Revolution Free Seminar Tour, a yearlong series of more than 180 free, 3-hour seminars that cover everything from shooting and lighting to editing and DVD authoring with Pinnacle Edition. Pinnacle Edition is optimized for Intel Pentium 4 processor and Intel Xeon processor-based systems.
