SANTA MONICA -- Steele VFX (www.steelevfx.com) was recently called on by director Matthew Rolston to provide visual effects assistance on Angels, the latest music video from pop star Jessica Simpson. The studio's team of artists enhanced virtually every frame in the video--more than 60 shots in all.
The video centers on Simpson, revealing the singer in a variety of romantic settings, including a vacant theatre and a darkened city street. The final scene is set on an urban rooftop where she performs in a sheer white dress accompanied by a large string section.

According to VFX supervisor Jerry Steele, the sequence was shot with an atmosphere of hard lighting in the background, and a soft, dewy look for Simpson. Steele says the studio had to enhance that contrast and remove small imperfections in the frame while still preserving the soft look of the talent.
Using Quantel Henry, the Steele VFX team removed steam that formed on a stage mirror as Simpson sang and added and enhanced lens flares and other lighting effects to create a sense of dynamic movement, contributing to the overall glamour of the piece.
