MANCHESTER, UK -- Digital Projection International (DPI) and NEC Viewtechnology Ltd. (NEC), Japan, have entered into an agreement to develop digital cinema projectors based on three-chip DLP Cinema technology from Texas Instruments (TI). The first Digital Projection Cinema-branded products were expected end of '02.

The venture follows NEC's DLP Cinema licensing agreement with TI and brings together two leaders in large-screen digital imaging and systems integration.
