DALY CITY, CA -- Digidesign has released Dolby Surround Tools (DST), a cross-platform Pro Tools plug-in package that supports the 96 kHz sample rate capabilities of its Pro Tools/HD system. With the demand for LCRS surround-encoded programming growing, Dolby Surround Tools allows users to easily produce Dolby Surround mixes on both Mac- and Windows-based Pro Tools TDM systems.

D-to-A and A-to-D conversion no longer needs to be performed as DST's LCRS encoding and decoding processes match those of Dolby's Model SEU4 and DP563 hardware encoders and Model SDU4 and DP564 hardware decoders. Customers who are registered for both Dolby Surround Tools and Pro Tools/HD will be automatically mailed the DST update kit Pro Tools/Mix customers registered for Dolby Surround Tools can upgrade to DST V.3.0 for $95 through Digidesign Customer Service.
