AGOURA HILLS, CA -- Huge Systems (www.hugesystems.com) used the recent MacWorld Expo to debut its MediaVault U320-R Max disk array series, a broadcast-quality line of storage solutions geared toward desktop video editors and small studios. The MediaVault U320-R Max line offers four different storage capacities ranging from 600GB ($3,359) to 1,250GB ($5,949), all in a compact footprint.

MediaVault 320 is designed for HD and SD applications, and can record and play back 1080i/IO-bit video or up to six uncompressed standard definition streams. The units offer plug-and-play functionality and are compatible with Mac, Windows, Linux, Unix and SGI operating systems. Performance features include a max burst data rate of 320MB/second and a sustained data rate of 200MB/second in "high definition turbo" mode. The single-channel Ultra320 SCSI interface is compatible with Ultra 320, Ultra 160, Ultra 2, LVD, Single Ended, Ultra Wide, Fast SCSI and SCSI-3.

Production/effects facility de Arte Media Creations in Georgia recently used a Mac running Final Cut Pro and a MediaVault 1800 equipped with 1.8TB of storage to post The Lamborghini Experience: 40 Years of Excellence, an upcoming DVD documentary about the famous Italian car maker.
