Digidesign secures Oscar, Bomb Factory - Post News

Post, Feb, 2004

DALY CITY, CA -- Digidesign (www.digidesign.com), the audio division of Avid Technology, was presented with an Academy Award of Merit (Oscar statuette) from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for its Pro Tools digital audio workstation. The statuette was given to Digidesign at the Scientific and Technical Academy Awards earlier this month.

The award recognizes the company's design, development and implementation of Pro Tools as a solution for creating and editing motion picture soundtracks.

Avid received its first Oscar five years ago for the Film Composer system. The Academy presents Scientific and Technical Awards to the creators of devices, methods, formulas, discoveries, or inventions of special and outstanding value to the arts and sciences of motion pictures.

In related news, Digidesign has acquired the assets of Bomb Factory Digital, Inc., a manufacturer of realtime audio DSP effects for the Pro Tools platform. Bomb Factory is known for its plug-ins, which realistically emulate the sound and look of vintage studio processors.
