Dolphins Yahoo! - Postings - marketing campaign for online service continues - Brief Article

Post, March, 2002

SAN FRANCISCO -- Yahoo! continued its comedic "Do you Yahoo!" campaign with a clever spot that debuted during the Super Bowl. Conceived by agency Black Rocket, San Francisco, Dolphin opens with a man on the shore of a seemingly deserted tropical island when he is approached by a dolphin of above average intelligence.

"How'd you find this place?" the dolphin asks of the lone vacationer. The man answers, "Yahoo!" and then questions the dolphin on how he learned to speak. The dolphin grins and the familiar Yahoo! tag rings out.

Tool of North America, Santa Monica and New York, produced the :30 spot, which was edited by Bob Frisk of Phoenix Editorial (www.phoenixeditorial.com) in San Francisco, paying close attention to the comedic pacing. Phoenix Discreet Flame artist Matt Silverman added digital enhancements to live action/animatronic dolphin footage, and John Crossley used Smoke to online the spot.

Stefan Sonnenfeld at Company 3, Santa Monica, handled color correction on Dolphin. The commercial's soundtrack was created by Andy Newell at Ripe in San Rafael, Calif. Crescendo in San Francisco performed the final mix.
