IRVINE, Calif. -- Fast Forward Video (www.ffv.com) is launching a miniature, compact digital video recorder board at NAB. The Recon is based on the company's Omega Deck DVR, yet measures just 2.8 inches-by-3.9 inches. Designed for OEM applications, the Recon is available in three storage capacities with compression ranging from 4:1 to 20:1.

The 20GB unit provides 65 minutes at 4:1 compression, two hours at 6:1 and three hours at 10:1. The 40GB unit provides two and a half hours at 4:1, three and a half hours at 6:1 and six hours at 10:1. The 60GB configuration provides 3 hours of storage at 4:1 compression, five and a half hours at 6:1, and eight hours at 10:1 compression.

Recon, combined with notebook hard drives or solid state memory, provides a low-cost DVR solution. Composite and Y/C inputs and outputs for NTSC and PAL are included.
